Winter is still going full blast here in Montreal, but I'm starting to fell that familiar tug. You know the tug I'm talking about, the need to shed some layers, to glimpse bright, green shoots pushing up through snow, tender buds on tree tips and fresh produce at the market... I'm feeling the tug of Spring! And, while cozying up to warm fires, sipping hot beverages and bundling up in thick sweaters is still somewhat appealing, after a week long photoshoot prop-styling summer BBQ recipes for Costco, I'm really beginning to dream of Spring. So, if you're desperate to shake off the winter blues and invite some friends over for a pre-spring soiree, here are my top tips on how to transition your winter table into something with a little more spring in its step!
Number 1: Pair those winter hues with fresh white
There is something so refreshing about white, pairing simple blue dinner-ware with tons of bright white and greenery ensures that your table is spring ready. Check out this gorgeous white dinner set at anthropologie if you're looking for something similar!
Number 2: Bring the garden indoors
I love this one! When trying to bring Spring to your table, why not actually BRING SPRING TO THE TABLE! Hit your local market and gather any fresh veggies you can find with the roots still attached, a few handfuls of greenery and maybe even floral bulbs if you can find them, to act as a living runner to place down the center of the table... it'll make your guests feel like they truly are on the cusp of a new season!
Number 3: Get all citrus-sy!
I think this is maybe one of the simplest ways to refresh your table-scape. Just gather together your favourite citrus fruits-- from grapefruits, to tangerines, limes and blood-oranges you name it! They look lovely in the bottom of clear glass vases, scattered down the table, placed on top of each plate with a little tag or even sliced up and dressed to create a delicious fennel salad that can be placed on each guests place-setting as an opening course!

Number 4: How does your garden Grow?
Seeds packets are a great and inexpensive way to bring the feeling of Spring to your table. With most seed packets costing a $1 or less per packet, this perfect little tip is a great way to decorate your table while also giving guests a little something to take home and start their own kitchen herb garden or planting a few indoor blooms!
Parting words of wisdom:
Whether it's a Spring Soiree, a cozy Winter blow-out, or just a pizza and wine kind of night, the most important part of any table is you and your guests! So, fill those glasses up, and toast to new seasons and old ones... they're all pretty great!
Over at Autumn Wood Stylist HQ we are soaking in the winter sunshine, sipping a green tea and wearing yoga pants, pretending we did something healthy today ;) The vitamin D from sunshine counts for something right?
